SHANGHAI--(Business Wire)--Organized by CBI Energy and supported by Coal Sector of Mongolia, MONGOLIAN NATIONAL MINING ASSOCIATION and Indonesian Coal Ming Association, 2011 China Clean Coal Technology Conference will be presented on July 12-13, 2011, in Beijing, China.

China's clean coal technology innovations will continue during the 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015). In 2010, China's demand for ethylene equivalent was 24.84 million tons, larger than its domestic production; the demand for propylene equivalent was 19.05 million tons, 5.90 million tons more than the national output. This indicates a significant demand-supply gap in China's ethylene and propylene markets. While the edge of petroleum to low-carbon olefin was blunted by the rising oil prices, the MTO technology using coal as the raw material will give the Chinese producers more advantages.

China is short of oil and gas but rich in coal resources. This determines that coal-fired power plants will continue to dominate in China. Compared with other clean coal power generation technologies, IGCC (integrated gasification combined cycle) boasts high generation efficiency, a 98% or above pollutant removal rate, low water consumption, low cost in pre-combustion carbon capture and compatibility with other advanced power generation technologies such as fuel cell. In April 2011, Huaneng IGCC demonstration power plant, China's first IGCC power plant with independent IPR, was commissioned. This project is expected to start operation late this year, with an annual power generation capacity of 1.2 billion kWh.

2011 China Clean Coal Technology Conference will present the following key topics:

  •  Analysis on new market access policies for the coal chemical industry
