Fujitsu LIFEBOOK T580 Tablet PC Highlights Pen’s Powerful Differentiating Role in 2011 Computer Market

KFAR SABA, Israel & AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--N-trig, providers of DuoSense®, a pen and projected capacitive multi-touch solution enabled over a single digitizer, today demonstrates how the DuoSense Digital PencilTM advances basic touch consumption to a more creative and interactive onscreen experience. The company is releasing two videos, one which highlights the precision and accuracy that can be achieved using a pen and the second demonstrates the capabilities of the Digital Pencil. The videos can be found at http://tinyurl.com/6xvnauc and http://tinyurl.com/5wdqa3n.

Utilizing pen capabilities to enhance the multi-touch functionality, the Digital Pencil enriches traditional media consumption by enabling an increased creative potential for on-screen user interaction. It offers a significant advantage over touch-only devices by enabling greater levels of precision and accuracy that cannot be achieved by fingertips alone, and results in new heights of performance for maximum productivity.

“Touch technologies that can sense both pen input and finger touch are the ideal touch technologies. Pen inputs are accurate and capable for the signature/handwriting application; finger touch use is fast and intuitive,” said Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, Vice President, Emerging display technologies at DisplaySearch. “The worldwide market value of touch screen modules will reach about $14 billion in 2016, up from $4.3 billion in 2009.”

The Digital Pencil also takes advantage of different types of applications on the marketplace that cannot be achieved by a simple capacitive stylus and greatly enhances the overall user experience. The pencil enables people to jot down an idea as soon as it occurs to them or doodle on long car rides, for students to write down math equations during class, for architects and engineers to sketch or draw designs directly on their computers screens while the road warrior can work directly on a spreadsheet without juggling a mouse on the plane.

Fujitsu, which has 20 years of heritage in producing tablet PCs, has standardized on the Digital Pencil as the stylus for its LIFEBOOK T580 tablet PC. Says Rajat Kakar, Vice-President, Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions: “Many professional users rely on their LIFEBOOK tablet PC not only to consume media, but also to create content. Based on our long experience in producing tablets, we know that a stylus is far more accurate than a fingertip. We wanted to provide LIFEBOOK tablet PC users with the best tool for the job, and that is why we chose the Digital Pencil.”

“We have seen the marketplace go through a significant transformation in recent years, with touch-enabled devices becoming increasingly more popular and more widely embraced by consumers. N-trig’s Digital Pencil enhances traditional touch capabilities and advances the experience by providing more options for how we work, play and interact with our computing devices,” says Amichai Ben-David, CEO of N-trig. “By utilizing our most basic non-verbal method of communication, the Digital Pencil brings back the lost art of handwriting and provides users with greater levels of personalization and accuracy without restricting creativity.”

The new videos show the practical applications of how N-trig’s Digital Pencil enhances the multi-touch experience by giving people more options and ways of connecting with their computers. The videos can be found at http://tinyurl.com/6xvnauc and http://tinyurl.com/5wdqa3n.
