NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The BlueSteps 2011 Executive Mobility Report shows that 73% of employed senior executives are actively seeking new job opportunities this year, however this number drops to 60% in China. In addition, 62% of Chinese executives expect to stay at their current level for the next 3-5 years, jumping 15 points from the previous survey in 2009, where 47% planned to wait beyond two years for their next upward move.

When searching for a new position, however, borders are of no concern to Chinese executives. 92% percent are willing to relocate overseas for a new job, far ahead of the 63% global response, making them some of the most mobile executives in the world.

Peter Felix, President of the Association of Executive Search Consultants and BlueSteps, commented “Senior executives around the world are eager and ready to make career moves after waiting out the recession and the unstable economy of the last few years. With the growth of multi-nationals in emerging markets, executives there more opportunity than ever, and can progress their careers faster than in other regions.”

Executives in China report having more opportunities than they had 5 years ago (57%) whilst only 37% of global respondents felt the same. In line with increased opportunities, 62% of Chinese executives would leave a job due to lack of career prospects above other concerns such as lack of work-life balance (31%) and a difficult boss (39.5%), indicating that career advancement comes ahead of shorter-term personal satisfaction.
