SD777/SD788 for flexible use in safety critical applications reduces system costs drastically by replacing four single inertial sensors

GRAZ, Austria--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SensorDynamics http://www.sensordynamics.cc, today launched two new micromechanical combisensors, the SD777 and SD788. Both sensors provide single axis angular rate and three axes acceleration measurement-data including concurrent fail-safe status information. This makes the sensors ideally suited for safety critical applications like vehicle dynamics control and roll-over where angular rate in one axis and acceleration in at least two axes has to be measured. Due to the third axis which is sensitive to acceleration and two calibrated measurement ranges for angular rate, the two sensors provide high flexibility in terms of mounting position and application area.

FEATURES

Two versions of the four degree of freedom combisensor are available: the SD777 offers an in-plane gyroscope, i.e. the axis sensitive to rotation lies in the PCB plane. On the other hand the SD788 offers an out-of-plane gyroscope, i.e. the axis sensitive to rotation is perpendicular to the PCB plane. Both sensors feature a high shock resistance of 2000g and outstanding vibration robustness. The sensors are temperature compensated over a wide operating range of -40°C to +125°C. The maximum offset error over temperature is 2°/s for the gyroscope and 90mg for the accelerometers. Nevertheless the maximum current consumption is only 15mA. Beyond that both sensors show a small signal noise and high stability in the long term. More details are to be found in the SD777/788 data sheet.

AVAILABILITY AND PRICE

The SD777 is available now, SD788 samples as of June. The 1k price is 27$. Please contact our local sales representatives for a competitive quote for series production. A small evaluation board featuring a USB interface for “plug&play” operation as well as PWM outputs for direct use in applications can be ordered for 200$.
