RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Optimized Systems and Solutions Inc. (OSyS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce plc, is to help easyJet, a leading European low-fares airline, further improve its fuel efficiency.

OSyS will provide fuel usage analysis, management and optimization for easyJet’s fleet of more than 170 aircraft. easyJet is a new customer for OSyS.

Fuel management and optimization allows airlines to drive operational efficiencies in terms of fuel usage, mitigate environmental impact and measure improvement initiatives.

“The capability to drive value from existing data sources and the flexibility to cost-effectively support additional future functionality were key factors in the selection of OSyS,” said Ian Davies, easyJet’s head of engineering and maintenance. “Fuel costs represent approximately 35 percent of our total operating costs so reducing our usage can deliver a significant benefit to profitability and reduce environmental impact. The OSyS solution will enable effective decisions on improvement initiatives and financial reporting by making fuel information readily available for operational management, finance and other functions.”

“The OSyS solution is a combination of data quality management, analysis expertise and reporting,” said Mark Goodhind, customer business director – aviation for OSyS. “Reconciling actual operational usage against plan, quantifying good and bad practices, and communicating them throughout the organization to effect change are all important to delivering value. This will enable easyJet to gain greater control over fuel usage, realize additional fuel gains and identify new savings opportunities. Our services help reduce operational expense and emissions, delivering competitive advantage to our customers.”
