Rigorous Certification Process Ensures Product Quality and Rapid Time-to-Volume for Customers

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GLOBALFOUNDRIES today introduced three newly certified design services companies as part of its GLOBALSOLUTIONS partner ecosystem. Infotech Enterprises Limited, Verisilicon, and Wipro Limited have joined GLOBALSOLUTIONS, further strengthening the company’s ability to help customers accelerate time-to-volume for complex systems-on-chip (SoCs) on advanced technology nodes.

“Our customers are increasingly turning to specialist firms for assistance with designing their complex SoC products,” said Craig Luhrmann, vice president of channels at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. “By certifying members of our design services ecosystem, we are able to provide customers with comprehensive design skills and a full suite of services to produce and source complex turnkey solutions. We look forward to developing our channel program with these partners, which will enable customers to access proven ASIC suppliers utilizing GLOBALFOUNDRIES technologies.”

GLOBALSOLUTIONS is the sum of GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ internal resources and ecosystem partners, including companies in all aspects of design enablement and turnkey services, OPC and mask operations, and advanced capabilities in assembly solutions. With its design services partners, the company is collaborating to deliver platform solutions based on GLOBALFOUNDRIES technologies and processes. The goal is to cover the entire design value chain from architecture specification through tape-out, qualification and production ramp.

The new members of GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ design ecosystem join other certified partners including eSilicon and Open Silicon Inc. GLOBALFOUNDRIES also has a strategic partnership with Socle Technology Corp. focused on leading-edge ARM-based SoC design and implementation. All of these companies have expertise in designing and delivering complex SoCs for industry segments including consumer electronics, telecom, wireless and automotive. Additional design services partners are currently in various stages of certification, with a plan to cover all major product segments and regions of the world.

“Design services partners undergo a rigorous technical certification process to ensure that they meet GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ standards of quality,” said Srinivas Nori, director of ASIC solutions at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. “The multi-phase process begins with a gap analysis examining more than 200 aspects of the product development cycle. Once all gaps have been addressed, our technical experts will conduct a site visit and begin the process of aligning the partner services with GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ capabilities, including deep-dive review sessions and demonstrations of partner capabilities. Only then will a partner be officially certified to engage with our customers. All design services partners will undergo periodic audits throughout the time of their collaboration.”

“Infotech Enterprises is pleased to partner with technology leader, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, whose visionary commitment to reshape the landscape of the foundry industry through a collaborative approach to both technology development and customer engagement has won many accolades in the semiconductor industry,” said Venkata Simhadri, vice president, hitech practice head at Infotech Enterprises. “We are pleased to have been chosen as a certified design services partner by GLOBALFOUNDRIES after a rigorous and comprehensive certification process, reaffirming Infotech’s superior capability to provide ASIC Design Services all the way from ‘concept to silicon & prototype.’ We look forward to working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES and bringing to market exciting new semiconductor products.”

“VeriSilicon is pleased to be a partner in the open, and collaborative GLOBALSOLUTIONS ecosystem,” said Wayne Dai, CEO and President, VeriSilicon Holdings Co. Ltd. “Our application oriented SoC development platforms, platform based hard IP portfolio, together with production proven software stacks including HD audio, HD video, and wideband/narrowband voice offer complete custom silicon solutions to enable differentiation reduce risk and accelerate time to volume. With R&D engineering in the US and China, customer support offices in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, EU and US, VeriSilicon is truly a GLOBAL Design Service provider and is uniquely positioned to bring our custom silicon solutions targeting 65nm and below process technologies to GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ worldwide customers.”

“We are happy to be certified by GLOBALFOUNDRIES as their design solution ecosystem partner; this relationship further enhances our leadership in third party design services in the multi-billion dollar SoC and ASIC market,” said Vasudevan Aghoramoorthy, vice president, semiconductor and system solutions, Wipro. “The certification enables early access to technology from GLOBALFOUNDRIES and enhances our target footprint in the semiconductor design services space. This is testimony to our pedigree in silicon design base and qualifies our track record and expertise in handling highest levels of design and technology complexities, as audited and verified by GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Wipro will look forward to actively participating in this ecosystem.”
