Named finalist in three categories joined by Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Motorola and other wireless leaders

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, announces it has been selected as a finalist in three categories for the LTE North America Awards. Organized by Informa Telecoms and Media, and independently judged by a panel of experts, the awards celebrate achievements in LTE advancement. Winners will be announced on November 10, 2010.

Recognizing Gemalto’s innovations and market leadership, the judges named the company as a finalist in three award categories:

  • Best Enabling Product/Technology for LTE by a North American Company
  • Best Contribution to R&D for LTE in North America
  • Significant Progress for a Commercial Launch of LTE by a Vendor in the North America Region

Other finalists include notably Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson and Motorola.

Gemalto’s commitment and R&D efforts brought about the industry’s first over-the-air (OTA) LTE platform and UICC, and enabled a smooth transition to LTE for CDMA and GSM operators in North America.

Harnessing the Gemalto innovation, LTE operators can instantly activate subscriptions, manage user rights, and securely deliver a reliable multimedia data connection over their LTE network. This all-IP solution enables 100% success rate for remote subscription management. Gemalto’s LTE Generation OTA platform and UICC have already been deployed by Verizon and MetroPCS.

Gemalto’s LTE solution makes it simple and convenient for subscribers to discover new services and enjoy the freedom of immediate service activation,“ said Sébastien Cano, senior vice president Telecommunications of Gemalto North America. “We are honored that LTE North America Awards recognized our innovation capacity, our dedication to the technology success, and our ability to bring operational LTE solutions to market quickly.”
