TUV Rheinland Acquires Geris Engenharia e Servicos in Brazil, Showing Strong Growth in South America

COLOGNE, Germany & SÃO PAULO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

With the acquisition of Geris Engenharia e Serviços in São Paulo, Brazil, TUV Rheinland is significantly expanding its commitment in South America: Geris offers technical services, particularly for the oil and gas industry, electricity producers, and suppliers as well as for infrastructure projects, residential construction and logistics. The company was founded in 1993 and has more than 600 employees. It is undergoing strong growth and achieves annual sales of around 30 million euros. In future, 2,100 employees will thus be working for TUV Rheinland in South America.

With Geris, we will establish ourselves as Number 2 in the Brazilian testing market. Focusing primarily on Brazil, Chile and Argentina, TUV Rheinland achieved overall sales of around 60 million euros in South America last year. With the acquisition of Ductor, one of the leading planning companies for infrastructure measures in South America, TUV Rheinland rose to become one of the leading testing companies in the Brazilian market in 2008. In addition to the classical testing services in the industry, the portfolio of services hitherto included the support and monitoring of infrastructure projects such as the construction of rail links, airports, housing estates, motorways and hospitals.
