YOKOHAMA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The testing facilities of the TUV Rheinland Group in Japan have been accredited for ANSI/UL 1703 testing. This newly achieved accreditation issued by DakkS (formed DATech) complements the already held accreditations by JNLA, ASNITE and the CBTL recognition.

This development allows combined testing sequences with IEC and ANSI and will result in lower testing fees, less number of test samples as well as less variation of components. Thus, synergies in testing procedures are created that result in shorter lead times and significantly decrease time to market.

"The trend to use photovoltaic as a clean energy source has gained importance in recent years.", said Mr. Stefan Kiehn, Head of the PV testing facilities at TUV Rheinland Japan. "The new accreditation is an indicator that we are committed to offer highest quality services for clients in Japan and the rest of the world. With the ANSI/UL 1703 accreditation, we not only expand our capabilities but also ensure fast track certification for IEC and ANSI."

Around 80% of all solar module manufacturers have their products tested at TUV Rheinland in order to obtain national and international market licences. TUV Rheinland operates test laboratories for solar modules and systems in Cologne, Shanghai, Taichung and Yokohama as well as an additional facility in Tempe Arizona at TUV Rheinland PTL. 170 experts work at the existing test centres.
