BEIJING -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

ExxonMobil will demonstrate its technological expertise at the 2010 International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition this week at the Beijing International Convention Center. The event is organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Chinese Petroleum Society.

Mark Albers, senior vice president of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), will speak at the opening executive plenary session Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. in Convention Hall 1.

"ExxonMobil's commitment to technology development and operations integrity is critical to our long-term success," Albers said. "We are honored to participate in this important conference in Beijing. We look forward to sharing ideas on how our technologies and capabilities can help meet China's energy, environment and economic goals."

ExxonMobil's Robert Franklin will moderate a panel session on "Meeting Current and Future Energy Challenges" on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Convention Hall 1 and ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company President Stephen Greenlee will participate in a panel on "Management of Technology Innovation" on Wednesday 10:30 a.m. in Convention Hall 2A.

As part of the conference's technical program, ExxonMobil researchers and engineers will present six papers on topics including corrosion technologies for gas development, reservoir modeling and enhanced oil recovery.

Evidence of ExxonMobil's commitment to China can be seen across the country where the company has been involved in many aspects of the energy industry, including exploration, fuels marketing, lubricant sales and services, chemicals, and power generation. In Fujian Province, ExxonMobil has partnered with Saudi Aramco, Sinopec, and the Fujian government to open a world-scale integrated refining and petrochemical facility. In 2009, the company also broke ground on ExxonMobil Chemical's technology center in Shanghai to better serve customers in China and the region. The company is also actively pursuing natural gas business opportunities in China for pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Conference attendees will learn about the full range of ExxonMobil's technology portfolio through interactive tools at ExxonMobil's exhibition, located at Booth 4, Exhibition Hall 2. Interactive touch screens and video content will highlight the company's experience in the development of unconventional gas resources and advancements such as ExxonMobil's Controlled Freeze Zone technology (CFZ), a single-step separation process for removing carbon dioxide and other elements from raw natural gas.

In addition, the exhibition will detail the steps ExxonMobil is taking throughout its global operations to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

Over the past five years, ExxonMobil has invested more than $4 billion in research and development projects. ExxonMobil employs 16,500 scientists and engineers and its commitment to proprietary technology has resulted in the discovery of next-generation and breakthrough technologies.

ExxonMobil is a co-sponsor of the conference's Education Week, held for the benefit of the students from the Society of Petroleum Engineers student chapters across the Asia Pacific region and student chapters in the Middle East, the United Kingdom and the United States. The purpose of Education Week is to give students information about the oil and natural gas industry, provide opportunities for students to work together on a joint project and to discuss key issues and share best practices.
