Greenland Group's New Headquarters Opens in Time for 2010 Shanghai World Expo
SHANGHAI, China -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Construction is well under way on the Greenland Riverfront CBD development with the project on schedule for completion in 2011. Greenland Group will move its new headquarters into the project in May in time for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo where the Shanghai-based property developer is a senior sponsor.
Callison provided master planning, architecture and interior design services for the landmark project, which is strategically located on the Huangpu River, adjacent to the Expo site. The 270,000 sm mixed-use development includes a four-story, open-air retail center, three Class-A office towers, a five-star Marriott hotel and two signature residential towers in the bustling Luwan district of Shanghai.
The World Expo will feature highly stylized pavilions from nearly every country in the world providing an international art walk through the site. The Greenland Riverfront Development faces the expo and echoes its artistic theme. The design of the new Greenland Group headquarters includes a rooftop deck atop a two-story office building with an open-air atrium. Suspended glass curtain blades reflect the sunlight in the daytime hours and resemble a glowing lantern at night. The undulating façade of the hotel is designed to mimic the flow of water, a symbol of wealth and prosperity.
The development's residential portion, Hysun, opened October 2009, and Greenland Group reports sales of the luxury serviced apartments are selling 40 percent above Shanghai luxury average. The office portion, Bund Square, is scheduled to open March 2011 followed by the retail center and Marriott hotel in May 2011. Greenland Group, one of China's top 500 real estate development companies, is also collaborating with Callison on the Shanghai Xuhui development, which is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2011.
