Presents “Designing Software with the User in Mind” and Showcases Cutting-Edge Graphics and Multimedia Implementations

BEIJING & SAN JOSE, Calif. & TAMPERE, Finland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Symbio, a leading innovator of outsourced product development solutions worldwide, today announced that its CEO, Jacob Hsu, will join industry luminaries from China Mobile Communication Association, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Research in Motion, Union Mobile Pay and Taobao as a speaker at this year’s China Mobile Internet Summit (CMIS), being held April 7-8, 2010 at the Intercontinental Financial Street Beijing. Hsu will present “Designing Software with the User in Mind (用户导向的设计思想),” an educational session that provides real-world insight on how to design mobile user experiences across devices that inspire fierce subscriber loyalty.

According to IDC’s most recent Worldwide Digital Marketplace Model and Forecast*, more than a quarter of the world's population, or 1.6 billion people, used the Internet in 2009 on a PC, mobile phone, video-game console, or other device. By 2013, that number is expected to rise to 2.2 billion. China has the most Internet users of any country, with 359 million in 2009. The United States in comparison has 261 million. By 2013, those numbers will increase to 566 million and 280 million, respectively.

"The number of mobile devices with Internet access has simply exploded over the last several years," said John Gantz, chief research officer at IDC. "With a wealth of information and services available from almost anywhere, Internet-connected mobile devices are reshaping the way we go about our personal and professional lives. With an explosion in applications for mobile devices underway, the next several years will witness another sea change in the way users interact with the Internet and further blur the lines between personal and professional."

“Mobile Internet access is becoming ubiquitous and China is experiencing phenomenal growth in developing and consuming leading edge mobile services and embedded devices,” said Jacob Hsu, CEO of Symbio. “Every year, hundreds of devices flood the market with different browsers, display capabilities, screen sizes and keypads. The variety of devices is growing, consumption is growing and consumers have many choices. Now more than ever, it is increasingly important to understand that successful user experiences are driven by well-designed software. Software that is not designed well or optimized for heightened consumer expectations will lead to expensive false-starts.”

In his session, Hsu will also discuss the latest developments in 3D and HD graphics, multimedia and the increasing importance and benefits of participation in industry consortiums and leading standards bodies as well as open source communities.

At the CMIS Conference exhibit, Symbio will showcase its successful commercial and cutting-edge graphics technology implementation demos featuring:

  • Graphics acceleration for embedded and rich User Interface (UI) experiences for touch screen phones, TV UIs and other device display menus
  • Vector based graphics working seamlessly with multilingual exotic characters
  • An in-house developed, custom and cross-platform graphics engine
