A Secure USB Desktop solution for government customers without the need for a virtualization layer

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MXI Security, a leader in superior managed portable security solutions, today announced Stealth Zone based on the Microsoft Windows Embedded platform. Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 2009 delivers the power, familiarity, and reliability of the Windows platform in a componentized form, and the secure USB desktop solution Stealth Zone offers government customers worldwide the ability to boot the operating system directly from an MXI USB security device. Eliminating the need for a virtualization layer, the native boot mechanism offers a leading user experience of any portable desktop solution currently available on the market.

MXI Security’s innovative Stealth Zone platform satisfies the needs of government customers who are looking for a portable Windows Embedded-based operating system environment where optimal use of host hardware including multiple CPUs, additional memory, audio hardware, or a powerful video card is fully leveraged.

Incorporating MXI Security’s advanced technologies for digital identity and data encryption, a Stealth Zone device will require up to three-factor user authentication before the hardware-encrypted Windows Embedded Standard 2009 operating system is unlocked for booting. Strong passwords, biometrics, and the US Government CAC and PIV cards will be supported as well.

“While Stealth Zone allows for a range of portable computing solutions, the ability to directly boot the Windows Embedded Standard 2009 operating system offers a leading end-user experience,” said Lawrence Reusing, CEO, MXI Security. “Combined with our unmatched authentication features, Stealth Zone is the ideal USB desktop solution for many government organizations that require highly secure and portable Windows Embedded based devices.”

“We’re excited MXI Security and other partners throughout the government sector continue to leverage the Windows Embedded platform to develop innovation solutions that meet industry demands,” said Ashwin Kulkarni, senior product manager for Windows Embedded at Microsoft Corp. “The Stealth Zone utilizes Windows Embedded Standard 2009 to equip users with a trusted operating system environment when access to information is critical.”
