CEATEC JAPAN 2009
Booth #2A34

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The IPTV Forum Japan will present a special booth at CEATEC JAPAN 2009, to be held starting on October 6th in Chiba City's Makuhari. The theme for the booth's display is Connecting Your TV to the Net, and it will focus on the nature of IPTV and how to connect household televisions to broadband networks in terms of both present and future service options.

1. Services available based on existing IPTV Forum specifications

  • The various services and devices available from different manufacturers and providers, including "acTVila", "Hikari TV", "Yahoo! JAPAN" and more.

2. Easy-to-understand connection models linking televisions and household networks

  • Example connections that show you how easy it is to connect digital televisions to household networks.

3. Future broadcasting-related services that link broadcasts directly to IPTV services

  • A Prototype for upcoming broadcasting-related services, brought to you by NHK, the five major private broadcasters, WOWOW and device manufacturers, as a trial for services that are expected to be available in the near future when specifications that are currently under review are complete.

In 2011, when broadcasting completes its transition to the digital format and the broadband environment has further grown, it is anticipated that IPTV services will be able to offer an even wider range of convenient options for consumers, including more video-on-demand (VOD), download options, multi-channel services, re-delivery of digital broadcasts and more. We hope that you will take this opportunity to see the standardized solutions that are currently available and those that will be available soon in this rapidly changing market.

In addition, part of the exhibit will also include content associated with technology verification for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "2009 Verification for IPTV Architecture using Diverse Networks."

The IPTV Forum Japan is a consortium that was established in May of 2008, involving fifteen different representative companies, including telecommunications companies, home appliance manufacturers and broadcasters. Currently, fifty-four companies are involved at the official level, with twenty sponsoring companies. Together they work to promote standards for technologies that will encourage the growth of IPTV services.
