SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TUV Rheinland Singapore Pte. Ltd. has been successfully assessed by the Safety Authority SPRING and is registered to certify 23 major product categories, effective from June 2009, according to the Consumer Protection Registration Scheme (CPS Scheme).

SPRING is a governmental institution authorized to control the safety of consumer goods under the consumer protection regulation from 2002 before they are sold in Singapore. The authorized Conformity Assessment Bodies (CAB) assure the citizens of Singapore that the registered products on the market are safe and secure. The SPRING Safety Mark, which is issued after receiving a letter of acknowledgement, includes an 8-digit code for the traceability of the registrant and the products which can then be verified online.

The objective of the system is to protect consumers from injuries or prevent damage of private property by verifying and listing the safe products as controlled goods.

TUV Rheinland’s designation as a Certification Body for the CPS Scheme will benefit the manufacturers as they will be able to receive a quality service that is not only valid in Singapore but on a global basis. Improved lead times and a process time guarantee make it easier to receive a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) which is essential for the letter of acknowledgement by SPRING for the final registration.

TUV Rheinland’s service grants a shorter entrance time to the market and provides the Singapore market access which is part of the global product distribution as a beneficial solution for all manufacturers of controlled goods.
