Vikram Gandhi, Investment Banking Veteran, Forms VSG Capital Advisors to Focus on India & Asia

Firm to focus on cross border and domestic advisory and investment services across key sectors critical for economic growth and development

NEW DELHI -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Vikram Gandhi today announced the setting up of his new firm called VSG Capital Advisors. The Firm will provide cross-border and domestic investment and advisory services in the private, public and social sectors. VSG Capital Advisors will help bring institutional, high net worth and developmental capital to India. The firm will be based in New Delhi with operations in New York, London and Hong Kong.

Commenting on founding VSG Capital Advisors, Founder & CEO Vikram Gandhi said "I am delighted to announce the launch of my firm VSG Capital Advisors. I wanted to use my global network and capital markets experience to act as a bridge between institutional investors, high net worth individuals, and developmental capital and the excellent investment opportunities that exist in India and Asia. I was also highly interested in providing leadership and advisory services on a pro-bono basis to the developmental and social sectors in India. VSG Capital Advisors is a logical outcome of this thought process."

As part of the focus areas of VSG Capital Advisors, Vikram was also appointed by Sam Pitroda, Chairman-National Innovation Council & Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations, to the Governing Council and Investment Committee of the recently announced $1 billion "India Inclusive Innovation Fund" that will fund enterprises that create innovative products and services for the 500 million people at the bottom of the pyramid.

An accomplished banker, Vikram has had a distinguished career spanning over two decades with global top tier investment banks. Prior to forming VSG Capital Advisors, Vikram was a Vice Chairman, Investment Banking Department and Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at Credit Suisse based in Hong Kong and New York. At Credit Suisse, he served as a member of the global investment banking operating committee.

He also spent over fifteen years with Morgan Stanley in roles with increasing responsibility. At Morgan Stanley, he was based in New York while serving as Global Head of Institutional Strategy and later headed their FIG business. In the late 1990's he was President and Country Head of Morgan Stanley in India. He was recruited by Credit Suisse in 2005 to build their FIG franchise.

Vikram began his career with Tata Industries, in Mumbai, India. At Tata, he worked in Chairman Ratan Tata's office. He has also worked at McKinsey & Company in New York.

Vikram holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. He also has a Bachelor's Of Commerce degree with high distinction from the University of Mumbai and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He has a keen interest in policy and philanthropy. He is a Founding Member of Harvard's South Asia Initiative which focuses on urbanization, water, and social entrepreneurship issues amongst others. He has been a Board Member of the Grameen Foundation for over five years and two years ago Co-Founded and funded The Giving Back Foundation which focused on women's and children's causes.
