RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quintiles is ranked 25th in the inaugural World's Best Multinational Workplaces list from the Great Place to Work® Institute. The rankings were announced during a reception at the New York Stock Exchange, hosted by the Great Place to Work Institute.

"Because it is based upon feedback directly from our employees, this recognition is very special," said Quintiles Chief Administrative Officer Mike Mortimer. "To be named among the top 25 is a tribute to the dedication of our exceptional people around the globe and the important work we do every day."

The 25 companies were selected from more than 350 multinational companies in 45 countries that participated in Great Place to Work best workplaces list selection processes in late 2010 through mid-2011.

"Best Practices" Highlighted

Along with the ranking, Great Place to Work also recognized two "best practices" at Quintiles. QDay is a Quintiles program that allows employees to take a day away from work to volunteer individually or in teams for charitable organizations in their local community. The program runs from October through December, and employees are encouraged to post their activities for others to see. Also recognized was Quintiles' intranet, "iQ," which is available to employees globally and now incorporates many of the features one would find in popular social networking applications.

Rigorous Criteria

To be eligible for consideration, companies must appear on at least five national Great Place to Work lists, have at least 5,000 employees worldwide, and have at least 40 percent or 5,000 employees of their global workforce working outside of the company's home country. In 2010 and 2011, Quintiles "Best Workplace" recognition included awards in Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

"This is the first ever truly global ranking of companies measuring the degree of trust, pride and camaraderie in the workplace," said Jose Tolovi, Jr., Global CEO of Great Place to Work. "It demonstrates the listed companies' commitment to constantly improve their employees' workplace experience and lives."
