Aetna Names Michael Elliott General Manager of Asia-Pacific Region

HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET), a leading global diversified health care benefits company, announced today that Michael S. Elliott has been named to the new position of general manager, Asia-Pacific region for Aetna International. In this role, Elliott is responsible for expanding the company's international business in the region, which includes international health benefits for expatriates and health management solutions. This appointment is effective immediately.

Elliott joins Aetna from HSBC Insurance, where he served as regional head, direct distribution for the Asia region located in Hong Kong, where he will continue to be based for Aetna.

Elliott has more than 25 years of international management experience, including several years with Cigna where he most recently served as chief executive officer of a life insurance joint venture based in China and previously served in senior management positions in sales, business development and marketing for the life, accident and health businesses in Asia, Europe, U.S. and Latin America. Earlier in his career, he held consulting and brand management roles in Canada for multinational organizations. Elliott holds an M.B.A. and a bachelor of arts degree in political science and economics, both from York University in Toronto.
