Beyond Meat® Continues Retail Expansion with Distribution at Sam’s Club China Beginning This Month

The company’s flagship Beyond Burger® will become the first plant-based burger offering at Sam’s Club China, Walmart’s membership-only warehouse retailer

Shanghai, China – September 24, 2021 –  Beyond Meat, Inc. (NASDAQ: BYND), a global plant-based protein company, today announced a partnership with Sam’s Club China, the membership-only retail warehouse outlet operated by Walmart China, to begin rolling out its flagship product the Beyond Burger at all Sam’s Club China stores in 21 cities across the country starting this week.

This new partnership comes as part of Beyond Meat’s conscious effort to meet Chinese consumers’ demand for delicious, nutritious, and sustainable plant-based meat.

The value 8-pack of the iconic Beyond Burger, will be priced at RMB 79.8 and will be locally produced at Beyond Meat’s new Jiaxing manufacturing plant. This launch marks the first time that a plant-based burger patty will be available at Sam’s Club China, a large and well-recognized hypermarket retailer in the region. The Beyond Burger offers the juicy, delicious taste and texture similar to that of animal protein with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based protein. Compared to traditional 80/20 beef patties, the Beyond Burger is a rich source of protein with approximately 17.3g per 100g and has 33% less saturated fat.

The Beyond Burger will be available in all Sam's Club China stores in the following cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Nantong, Changzhou, Suzhou, Dalian, Shenyang, Nanchang, Wuhan and Changsha.

The partnership with Sam’s Club China adds to Beyond Meat’s retail footprint in the region. Beyond Meat retail products are also currently sold through Alibaba’s Freshippo, Metro China and online retailer JD.com. Within its first year in the market, Beyond Meat has also launched high-profile foodservice partnerships with Starbucks China and Yum! China as well as with well-known names in China’s dining scene, including Jindingxuan, GangLi Beijing, Slow Boat Brewery, W Hotel Shanghai and more.
