Flying Disc sports were developed after the introduction of the first plastic flying discs in the USA in 1948. Guts was developed in 1958, Ultimate in 1968, and Disc Golf and Freestyle were developed in the early 1970s. Belonging to the first cohorts of NUBS China, alumni Xue Zhixing, An Chenran, Wang Yinqiu and their friends founded the first domestic professional flying disc company Yikun Sports in 2008.

Everyone involved in the company is passionate about the game. Yikun Sports is committed to supporting and promoting the development of flying disc sports in China and has gained Championship level approvals from both the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) and the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). In 2015, Yikun Sports was a British Council Global Alumni Awards finalist and held talks with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. Hangzhou Disc Culture Co., Ltd., established by Yikun Sports, was the main promoter and operator of the 2019 Asia Oceanic Ultimate & Guts Championships (AOUGC) and focuses on flying disc sport promotions, event organisations, training and other services.

Now Yikun has developed flying disc sport programmes in more than 130 universities in China and has built more than 10 flying disc sports teams in various institutions in Ningbo.

“We established Yikun with the mission of promoting disc sports and introducing a healthier lifestyle, and in twelve years we have witnessed the development of flying disc sports from scratch, through continuous effort and innovation. We hope the Yikun team will bring the beauty of flying disc sports to China and even the world. Entering the Asian Oceania Flying Disc Federation, we will strengthen cooperation and exchange with national and regional associations to further enhance the international voice of Chinese Frisbee,” said Xue Zhixing.
