The AIA Great European Carnival Begins 2017 with a Line-up of Fun and Wellness Oriented Programmes

Hong Kong (4th January, 2017) – The AIA Great European Carnival is breaking away from the traditional carnival this year by offering more than rides and games, but integrating an array of health and fitness activities into the Carnival. The Carnival teams up with some of Hong Kong’s national sport associations to showcase fitness and skill activities starting January 5 through till the end of the Carnival. 

 

The six Associations that will be participating - Hong Kong Shuttlecock Association, Hong Kong Football Association; Hong Kong Baseball Association, Hong Kong Rugby Union, Hong Kong Cricket Association and Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association, all of which will be showcasing their workshops and activities at different times throughout the event. Carnival goers who look for showing off their fitness skills in addition to their game skills can’t miss the sports programmes!

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Shuttlecock Association, 5th January, 12-3pm

Hong Kong Shuttlecock Association will hold public workshops including shuttlecock skills demonstration, free shuttlecock performance, interaction with visitors on basic shuttlecock skills and coaching.

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Football Association, 14th, 22nd January and

2rd , 5th February, 3:00-5:00pm

Hong Kong Football Association experts will not only demonstrate and teach the public some football skills, but they will also play games and give away football gifts. Hong Kong Premier League will also join the coaches at the Carnival.

 

 

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Baseball Association, 7th, 19th, 21st and 25th January, 3:00-6:00pm

Hong Kong Baseball Association will engage and teach the Carnival goers the basic skills and techniques of baseball including catching, throwing and batting. Demonstrations of skills whilst short mini games will be played during the session. Limited baseball souvenirs will be given away for participants.

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Rugby Union (date to be announced)

Hong Kong Rugby Union will hold school workshops providing rugby related agility and movement games catered to all ages and abilities taking part.

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Cricket Association,12th, 15th,27th January and 4th February, 3:30-5:30pm

They will teach the techniques of batting, throwing, catching, stopping boundary balls & reaction skills. Contestants will run six stations to complete each activity and the quickest ones will get prize. Cricket fans will be thrilled to learn that the Association is giving away keychains, water bottles, and free tickets for the Hong Kong vs Netherlands game in February.

 

Programmes by Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association, 4th February, 12-3pm

Trial of paddle machine at the Carnival will be held from 12-2pm, followed by 200 metres race competitions on live stage from 2-3pm. Anyone is welcome to join!

The Great European Carnival Ltd (TGEC) is the producer of the annual Hong Kong event called The AIA Great European Carnival. The Great European Carnival takes place between December and February each year, on the Central Harbourfront Event Space. The event features amusement rides, carnival skill games, seasonal markets and performances on a community stage.
