HONG KONG--()--The GSMA today announced the nominees for the 2016 Asia Mobile Awards. Winners of the inaugural “AMO Awards” will be honoured at the Asia Mobile Awards Ceremony and Dinner Reception at DaGuan Theatre in Pudong, Shanghai on Wednesday, 29 June. The AMO Awards are an integral element of Mobile World Congress Shanghai, which will be held 29 June through 1 July at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

“We are delighted to announce the nominations for the first Asia Mobile Awards, which will be presented at Mobile World Congress Shanghai at the end of this month,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “Our independent judging panels really had a difficult task in making their selections from more than 160 entries representing an array of companies and sectors across the dynamic Asian mobile ecosystem. Congratulations to all of those shortlisted, and we look forward to unveiling the winners at the awards ceremony at Mobile World Congress Shanghai.”

In total, 46 nominees have been shortlisted for 10 awards across four categories: “Best Mobile Apps”, “Connected Lifestyle”, “Best Mobile Devices” and “Outstanding Achievement”. The full list of nominees is available at www.asiamobileawards.com/nominees2016/.

The AMO Awards are the sister awards to the GSMA’s Glomo Awards (The Global Mobile Awards), the mobile industry’s world-leading awards programme. The AMOs recognise everything from game-changing mobile devices and technologies, to applications and services available in all Asian markets, showcasing the ever-growing value that mobility brings to individuals, businesses, industries, communities and economies across the region. The AMO Awards are judged by independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and, in some cases, mobile operator representatives.

Supporting Partners for the AMO Awards include AVING News, CCIDcom, News Republic, ShanghaiEye and Technode. Full information on the AMO Awards can be found at www.asiamobileawards.com/.
