HONG KONG--()--HKNet Company Limited (HKNet), a subsidiary of NTT Communications, today announced the achievement of MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification for the company’s SecureNet Ethernet services. The certification represents the international industry standard for high quality service performance and management, and reaffirms HKNet’s commitment to delivering carrier-class Ethernet services in Asia.

Carrier Ethernet is designed to provide enterprises with optimized quality and higher level of network security. As the defining body for Carrier Ethernet, the MEF (Metro-Ethernet Forum) offers certifications to network service providers to certify that their services comply with world-recognized industry standard. Service providers have to pass 634 test cases conducted by MEF-approved test labs.

Increasing number of international network service providers are aligning their Ethernet network services to the MEF CE 2.0 standard. “We are seeing tremendous demand for our SecureNet Ethernet services in Asia. The certification assures our customers that our network is of world-class standard and gives them the highest confidence. The tests are challenging and we highly appreciate the professional support our network platform partner Cyan offered throughout the evaluation process.” said Patrick Ng, Executive Vice President, Global Network Business Division, NTT Com Asia Limited which operates HKNet.

HKNet SecureNet Ethernet is delivered over Cyan’s Z-Series, a MEF CE 2.0 certified, packet-optical transport platform and together with Blue Planet, Cyan’s industry-leading SDN and NFV Orchestration Platform. “Being a strong supporter of the MEF industry standards, we are happy to be partnering with leading carriers like HKNet to provide higher-quality and more interoperable network services for the end-users. CE 2.0 certification is definitely a win-win situation for all parties.” said Abel Tong, Director of Solutions Marketing at Cyan.

The achievement of CE2.0 certification by HKNet’s SecureNet Ethernet is a enabler for the delivery of high quality, performance, interoperability and management characteristics. “If you break down today’s business traffic, Ethernet represents approximately twice as much traffic as all other types combined on a global basis,” said Nan Chen, President of the MEF. “The collaboration between HKNet and Cyan has demonstrated a perfect example on how Carrier Ethernet evolves to meet customers’ needs.”

HKNet SecureNet Ethernet supports point-to-point to full-meshed network topology, with extensive coverage in Asia including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Cambodia, and India. For more information, please visit http://www.hknet.com/en/services/network-services/securenet-ethernet.html
