OSAKA, Japan--()--Panasonic Corporation announced today that it introduces the industry's smallest* power relays “HE-S Relay”, which have realized one of the industry's lowest operating power levels*. HE-S Relays can safely cut off abnormal currents that may occur when power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation or power storage system, industrial equipment such as elevators, and stationary EV chargers are in operation. They will be available on the market starting in June 2015.

* As multi-contact, high-capacity relays with a capacity of 35 A or greater. As of June 1, 2015 based on Panasonic research.

Product name   HE-S Relays
Release date   June 2015
Price   To be discussed separately based on the quantity

Downsizing, weight reduction, and energy savings are demanded of power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation, storage battery and various industrial equipment systems. The power relays are used for cutting off inverter current safely in case of a failure in these equipment systems and there are growing needs for downsizing and reduced operating power. Panasonic has developed the industry's smallest* HE-S Relays that employ the mirror contact structure, thus achieving one of the industry's lowest operating power levels*. HE-S Relays will contribute to the downsizing and energy savings of equipment and systems that require high-capacity control, such as power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation or power storage system, elevators, uninterruptible power supply systems (UPSs), and various types of industrial equipment.

Features

1. The industry's smallest package* can reduce the footprint, contributing to the downsizing of the equipment.

Dimensions: 30 (L) x 36 (W) x 40 (H) mm

2. The coil hold voltage is reduced to approximately 30% of the rating voltage. One of the industry's lowest operating power levels* contributes to the energy savings of the equipment.

Operating power: 1.88 W (at an ambient temperature of 20°C)
Holding power: 170 mW (at an ambient temperature of 20°C)

3. The adoption of the mirror contact structure (conforming to EN 60947-4-1) facilitates the design of safety circuits.

Welding of contacts can be detected safely.

Applications

  • Safe cut-off applications of AC mains electricity in power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation or power storage system
  • Safe cut-off and power control applications in industrial equipment such as elevators and UPSs (uninterruptible power supply systems), as well as stationary EV chargers
