PHOENIX -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Make-A-Wish® International will celebrate its annual World Wish Day® on 29 April, with thousands of people across the globe. This year, Make-A-Wish is asking individuals across the globe to take part by visiting worldwish.org/wwd to make a donation in honor of the organization’s 34th anniversary and the 334,000+ wishes granted since its inception in 1980 – with the goal of raising US$100,000 this month to help make more wishes come true.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wish recipients inspire all of us around the world through their incredible stories of courage and positivity illustrated through their wish experiences.

There are thousands of courageous children around the world who could inspire other children and communities by seeing their most cherished wishes become reality – but they cannot do it without your support. Just as UK wish recipient Stephen Sutton has seen, a seemingly simple wish can have a global impact. He chose today to share his wish – to have his story of positivity made into a video and for it to be seen by as many people as possible! His inspirational story has already motivated millions worldwide to do something for the good of others. Please watch and share to make his wish come true.

Your donation in support of World Wish Day will help to make life-changing experiences possible for even more inspiring children like Stephen, Miles Scott (aka Batkid), Eunjeong (15) from Korea, who wished to give clean water to a community in Tanzania, and Fatima (7), who will have her wish to be a princess granted on 29 April in Abu Dhabi.

Make-A-Wish affiliates and supporters worldwide will be celebrating World Wish Day through a series of wishes and events in their communities and online at worldwish.org/wwd. You can take part in granting more wishes by donating and following the campaign via #WorldWishDay.

Make-A-Wish sponsor Mattel, Inc. is joining the celebration again in 2014. Mattel has supported the World Wish Day campaign since 2011, through a generous cash donation and a global social media campaign to spread the word about World Wish Day. This year, Mattel will also help grant Irish wish child Aideen's wish to be a Barbie fashion designer. Together, Make-A-Wish International and Mattel are bringing joy and play to families, and ultimately helping create stronger communities.

Join the global network of Make-A-Wish supporters by making a donation at worldwish.org/wwd and spreading the word via #WorldWishDay on social media to raise awareness and vital funds to help bring more life-changing experiences to children and families worldwide. Help us reach our World Wish Day goal of raising US$100,000 to help more wishes become a reality for courageous children around the globe!
