Hytera Facilitates Award-Winning TETRA Project for Hong Kong Metro

SHENZHEN, China--()--MTR Corporation Limited, a Hytera client, won "Best Use of TETRA for Transport" in recently announced 2014 International TETRA Awards. The awarding was organized by TETRA Today in association with TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA).

MTR Corporation operates one of the world's busiest rapid transit and light rail networks in Hong Kong. Around 5.1 million passengers travel with MTR lines each day, and the trains depart every 2.1 minutes during peak hours. Reliable communication systems are critical for maintaining its daily operation. MTR has been using TETRA technology and systems for 10 years, and has committed to implement a single 800-MHz TETRA system to serve another six lines as a replacement for the original analog radio system for train and station communications.

As a key technology supplier, Hytera has provided dispatch workstations, fallback room devices, network management systems and train-borne radios for MTR. Over the last year, the new TETRA network has successfully served around 140 trains and over 60 dispatch workstations in control centers and a fallback control room.

Winning the "Best Use of TETRA for Transport" award, MTR's project truly shows what TETRA is capable of in a railway environment. Hytera has strong ability and rich experiences in providing radio communication solutions for railway transportation and has deployed networks for metros in major cities in China and abroad.
