ONEONTA, N.Y.--()--Ioxus, a manufacturer of premium performance ultracapacitor technology for the automotive and transportation industries, is announcing 80 percent annual growth1 in Japan, buoyed by its expanding customer base, which includes a number of top electronic companies and semiconductor plants. As a result, Ioxus maintains its dominance of Japan’s power supply equipment market where it supplies crane and industrial installation manufacturers with ultracapacitors.

When paired with a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) application, Ioxus ultracapacitors provide a longer life cycle than batteries by more than 50 percent and provide a longer compensating time than an electrolytic capacitor. Ioxus ultracapacitors offer a more stable operation during fluctuations in power supply, decreasing time lost to equipment being offline or unable to operate. Toshiba Mitsubishi Electric Industrial Systems Corporation has been pairing Ioxus ultracapacitors with its DVR application for 2 years, supplying the complementary products to a number of prominent electronics companies.

“Ioxus ultracapacitors can be an integral part of the DVR application and provide more compact and powerful solutions than competing technologies’ products,” said Toshihiro Suzuki, Japanese sales manager, Ioxus. “Companies using DVRs with Ioxus ultracapacitors are saving power in their factories and production plants during voltage sags and reaping the benefits of longer product life cycles.”

In the five years since Ioxus entered the Japanese market, it has established a reputation as a leading supplier of ultracapacitors to prominent manufacturers in cranes and industrial equipment industries. Mitsui Engineering and Ship Building Company (MES) selected Ioxus ultracapacitors for use in their harbor cranes in 2008 for the ultracapacitors’ energy recovery and peak power assist features, which conserve regeneration energy and release stored energy respectively, contributing to 50 percent less fuel consumption and 40 percent fewer emissions, according to an MES technical report.

“I am proud that Ioxus has seen such traction in the Japanese market and that our presence is continuing to grow,” said Mark McGough, CEO, Ioxus. “The Ioxus team has successfully introduced companies from a range of industries to the benefits of using ultracapacitors with DVR applications. We look forward to continuing to expand our footprint in the Asia region and working with additional industry-leading companies to improve their power delivery systems.”
