COLUMBIA, Md.--()--Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), a leading customer relationship marketing (CRM) firm and the nation’s largest privately-held agency, announced that Zhengda “Z” Shen has been appointed president of Merkle APAC. As Merkle’s client base is becoming increasingly global, the company is placing greater emphasis on the expansion of its delivery capability in the Global Delivery Center in Shanghai, China.

With this expansion, under Shen’s leadership, Merkle expects to have more than 300 employees in China by the end of 2013 and more than double this number by the end of 2015. Rapid employee growth in China demonstrates the company’s continued build-out of global analytical, marketing technology and digital media capabilities for its U.S. multi-national marketers such as Dell and Kimberly-Clark in the Asia Pacific Region.

In addition to business expansion and support for Merkle’s global clients, Shen will lead the development of local business in China and the overall APAC region for Merkle. Work in the local market has begun with the key account wins such as Wyeth Nutrition China. In focusing on the local Asia market, Merkle is also in the process of building a customized connected CRM technology platform to fit those needs. Shen will continue to focus on leading Merkle’s CRM analytics, and data capabilities.

“I am excited about the accelerating rate at which Merkle is expanding into the APAC market,” said Shen. “From growing up and establishing my career in this region, I know that Merkle will fill a gap in the marketplace. Our heritage in data, analytics and technology, coupled with our digital media expertise, gives us a unique opportunity to serve this marketplace with customer-centric solutions that will create competitive differentiation for our clients.”

“According to Forrester’s report, 'Asia Pacific Tech Market Outlook For 2012 To 2014,' the Asia Pacific tech market will reach $543 billion in 2013, second only to the US,” said David Williams, Merkle chairman and CEO. “The report also predicts that China will continue to be one of the fastest growing Asia Pacific markets in 2013 and 2014. The appointment of Z to champion Merkle’s growth in this region is a demonstration of our commitment. Since joining Merkle in 2000, Z has made enormous contributions to Merkle and has played various leadership roles including building Merkle’s analytic powerhouse.”
