Revamped Yicai Logo Draws Up Blueprint for New Media Era

(Yicai Global) Oct. 31 -- After rapid development in the past 13 years, Yicai Media Group,renamed from China Business Network (CBN), the largest financial media group in China, is to enter the New Media landscape under a new moniker ‘Yicai’.

With Chinese phrases gradually recognized around the world, Yicai, widely known as ‘一财’ among Chinese users, will replace “CBN” to represent China’s voice on the world stage. The new name Yicai also marks the beginning of the company’s internationalization campaign.

To accelerate the business transformation in the company, Yicai’s logo will get a complete makeover to establish it as China’s most trusted innovative digital financial media and information service group with a global influence.

The Logic behind the New Logo: Small Changes Make a Big Difference

1. 15° Angle - Our New Attitude

The graphic logo will be used for many products to be launched by Yicai. It retains the number “1” in the text logo, with two semicircles on its left and right sides standing for “C” and “J”, the initials of “Cai Jing”, meaning finance in Chinese. They also resemble the peaks and troughs of sound waves, indicating that Yicai’s influence will continue to grow.

A company’s brand is the visual clue to the personal and emotional ties between the enterprise and its clients. A brand or logo is more than just a symbol, it is the sum of innovation, creativity, customer service and loyalty, product and service development and every other aspect of your business that touches the client.

The new logo features a simpler, keen-edged design. The 15-degree acute angled- design is most evident in the number “1” and the strokes of the Chinese characters have been adjusted to lean at the same angle, symbolizing the enterprising spirit of the staff at Yicai and our vigorous pursuit of excellence.

The “1” resembles a rectangular movie or television screen framed by fingers held at 90 degrees to isolate a mise-en-scene. It echoes with the counter-space of the letter “A” underneath, which is a ‘play’ button. This is a visual indication that instead of simply combining TV with Internet, Yicai’s Video + strategy is underpinned by Internet-oriented video production. Such productions are wholly integrated into the online video ecosystem and Internet-based TV content production.

2. Bold Color, Bold Innovation

In design, colors can evoke a specific emotional response. Red means active, yellow is energetic, green or brown can reflect nature, blue is reliable, which is an excellent choice for a news outlet.

In Western corporate design, as in the Chinese psyche, a bold blue is associated with the depth and stability of the skies and the sea. The feelings it engenders in the client include comfort, faith, conservative values, understanding, clarity, confidence, calmness and trust.   

Yicai’s new logo is bright blue in color, a hue that is distinctly associated with technology in the Chinese mind. It also symbolizes the vigorous innovation and ceaseless creative appetite that typifies Yicai’s corporate philosophy.

Throughout its 13-year history, CBN has always remained at the forefront of financial media in China. Yicai will inherit the former’s spirit and drive for constant innovation.
