ASUS Hosts Demonstrations of New All-in-One Desktop PC with DTS Surround Sensation | UltraPCTM

COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011

TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At Computex Taipei 2011 this week (May 31-June 4), DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, will showcase its lineup of technology demonstrations, including the latest DTS Surround Sensation | UltraPCTM integration at the ASUS booth (M1009). The new ET2410 All-in-One PC, unveiled by ASUS at the show, features DTS Surround Sensation | UltraPC technology and is expected to ship in June 2011. Attendees will learn how the innovative DTS audio technology is used to augment the sound experience across various mobile, tablet and PC platforms, bringing content to new digital delivery channels without compromising the entertainment experience.

"We're continuing to adapt our solutions to best meet the needs of today's listeners who are now, more than ever, turning to mobile and personal computer devices to consume content. The growing integration of DTS audio technology into these devices, like the new PC from ASUS, supports our belief that consumers value sound," commented Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer of DTS, Inc. "By raising the standards for today's high-definition entertainment packages, we are not only enhancing the audio, but engaging and elevating consumers' overall experiences. Customers can now enjoy a virtual surround effect whether the audio source is in stereo or surround."

DTS Surround Sensation | UltraPC is comprised of DTS Neo: PCTM, which takes 2-channel (stereo) audio and transforms it into a full-bandwidth 5.1-channel matrix; DTS Surround Sensation | SpeakerTM, which simulates surround sound from only two speakers; and DTS Surround Sensation | HeadphoneTM, which simulates surround sound through headphones.

These technologies work together to benefit the end user as such; 2-channel audio (stereo) is processed through DTS Neo: PC to create the 5.1 channels, and then processed by Surround Sensation to create a three-dimensional wall of sound, giving the sensation that sounds are occurring beyond the boundaries of the two channels. Audio already encoded in 5.1-channels bypass DTS Neo: PC processing.

The DTS Surround Sensation | UltraPC solution includes the following proprietary technologies:

  • Voice Clarification Technology: Enhances the signal clarity to improve the audio quality of dialog derived from Blu-ray DiscTM or standard DVD
  • Bass Enhancement Technology: Restores the perception of fundamental low-frequency tones by dynamically augmenting harmonics, yielding improved bass performance without the additional hardware costs of adding a subwoofer
  • Soundstage Expansion Technology: Broadens the soundstage and creates a phantom center channel for improved clarity and audio crispness

"By adding DTS technology to our new ET2410 All-in-One PC, we're excited to offer our customers an audio experience like no other, and unprecedented speed and performance," said Joe Hsieh, general manager of motherboard and desktop business at ASUS.

Now in its 31st year, Computex Taipei is one of the world's leading trade shows geared specifically to the high-tech computer and information technology industries. As the birthplace for many of the leading innovations in the industry, Computex attracts more than 36,000 international buyers and other industry professionals.
