Cost-effective Connectivity Solution for Power-Sensitive Consumer Devices

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Silicon Image (NASDAQ:SIMG), a leader in advanced, interoperable HD connectivity solutions for consumer electronics, today announced the availability of the SiI9232 RGB-to-MHLTM (Mobile High-Definition Link) transmitter designed for power-sensitive mobile devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, portable media players, tablets, and HD camcorders. The SiI9232 MHL transmitter delivers a cost-effective, low-pin-count HD connectivity solution over an existing mobile device connector. Silicon Image continues to grow its MHL product portfolio and increase its market leadership with the addition of this new part.

"Today's mobile devices deliver advanced multimedia entertainment including premium movies, captured video and photos, and Internet content, all in pristine digital HD formats, making them an ideal choice for consumers who want their entertainment at any time, any place," said David Kuo, director of product marketing at Silicon Image, Inc. "However, the quality of the entertainment experience can be limited by the display on the mobile device. Consumers want a mobile solution that delivers the ultimate HD experience on the big screen. The SiI9232 MHL transmitter was created with this in mind, enabling the design of a cost-effective and low-pin-count HD video output for mobile devices."

The SiI9232 MHL-enabled transmitter also delivers the following features:

  • Multiple RGB input formats
  • MHL-compliant output up to 1080p@24/30 Hz

  • Pin-compatible, non-HDCP version available (SiI9236)
