IHS Global Insight Names Rajiv Biswas Chief Asia Economist

Asia-Pacific Expert to Be Based in Singapore, Lead IHS Global Insight Region-Wide Economic Forecasting Efforts

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Global Insight, the recognized leader in providing the most comprehensive global economic information, analysis and consulting services around the world, has named Asia-Pacific expert Rajiv Biswas its Asia Chief Economist.

Biswas will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of IHS Global Insight's macroeconomic forecasts and analyses for Asia-Pacific. He will contribute to development of IHS Global Insight’s global forecasts, working closely with IHS Chief Economist, Nariman Behravesh and other regional economists. He will also engage in extensive customer support, business development and media interaction throughout the region. He will be based in IHS Singapore office.

Biswas’ extensive professional background and expertise includes political and economic assessments of Asia-Pacific, sovereign risk analyses and ratings, as well as assessment of competitiveness of international financial centers in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before joining IHS Global Insight, Biswas was Southeast Asia Director for The Economist Group. He also served as Director and Senior Economist for the Asia-Pacific Region for UBS, focusing on the regional and global economy, country risk and international public policy. Prior to UBS, Biswas was Senior Economist in the International Finance and Capital Markets Department of the Commonwealth Secretariat, and held Economist positions at QIC Fund Management, the Western Australia Department of Economic Development and Trade, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and has a M.Sc. and D.I.C from Imperial College at the London University.

Rajiv Biswas – Media Bio

Rajiv Biswas is Senior Director and Asia Chief Economist at IHS Global Insight. He is responsible for coordination of economic analyses and forecasts for the Asia-Pacific region, contribution to IHS Global Insight global forecast, client support, business development and media interaction.

Rajiv previously worked as Director for South-East Asia for The Economist Group. Prior to this, he worked for UBS as Executive Director for Asia-Pacific Country Risk and before that as Director and Senior Economist for International Public Policy and Group Economic Research covering the Asia-Pacific region. His experience has also included working for an international organization, the Commonwealth Secretariat, in their London headquarters, as a senior economist in the International Capital Markets Department.

His professional career as an international economist also includes the roles of Head of the Economics Unit for QIC, a large investment fund manager, and an international economist for the Royal Bank of Scotland. Rajiv also worked for one year in Japan on trade and investment issues for the Japanese government.

Rajiv is a graduate of the London School of Economics, for the B.Sc.Econ.Hons. in Economics, and received his M.Sc. and D.I.C. from the Imperial College at London University.

Rajiv has published widely on a range of economic, trade and investment-related topics, with over 100 published articles.
