Furniture Rental Supports Cost-Effective Temporary Employee Assignments

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CORT’s Global Furniture Network continues to expand, now spanning more than 60 countries as more businesses embrace furniture rental as a cost-containment strategy to support employee relocations on temporary assignments.

CORT established the CORT Global Furniture Network in 2001. The network is the only global service provider offering residential home furnishings, serving thousands of customers each year through regional service centers worldwide.

Companies rely on international relocations to recruit and deploy talent. With the number of temporary assignments growing to support a global workforce, renting homes or apartments, and furniture, is a cost-efficient alternative. Arriving to a home already arranged with rental furnishings, appliances, housewares, televisions and other equipment eases the transition so employees are productive with work from the first day.

Relocating employees internationally can be costly and difficult to manage, both for companies and their employees, said Kenneth S. Barron, CORT’s managing director of global relations and client services. “Today, assignments are typically for much shorter durations than they were several years ago, and furniture rental is becoming a popular alternative that is being integrated into an increasing number of corporate policies,” he said.

CORT carefully evaluates potential partners to ensure a high standard of customer service and furniture selection, including the ability to rapidly respond to customers. The expanded coverage to more locations is in response to the increased demands by clients who are seeking quality solutions in more geographic areas.

Living Edge Rental in Australia joined the network in 2004. “Being part of the network provides us with the ability to meet our customers’ needs globally and provides many more opportunities to establish business relationships,” said Matt Doyle, CEO.
