BERLIN -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

On 15 June, Ökowatch, newly-founded in April 2010 under the guiding principle, "We Are the Good Ones", held a demonstration in Germany's capital. Ökowatch demanded German policymakers stop using unsound environmental claims made by Green non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as a basis for making environmental policy.

During its demonstration in the heart of Germany's governmental district - in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the German Congress and the Chancellory - Ökowatch called on government officials not to implement environmental policies neglecting the needs of people, using, among others, one of Ökowatch's central messages: "People are a part of the environment, too".

An example for the neglection of people's needs was highlighted at the Brandenburg Gate: Green NGOs' pressuring of European governments and businesses results in discriminatory, anti-development policies depriving developing countries the opportunity to increase their living standards. Ökowatch presented this message with banners that read, "Green NGOs Keep People Poor".

Finally, Ökowatch projected its logo - a face with binoculars - onto a Parliamentary building at the German Congress, making it clear that Ökowatch will continue to closely monitor German and European environmental policies.
