TOKYO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
HI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Kazuo Kawabata; hereinafter "HI")(JASDAQ:3846)(ISIN:JP3160860007) announced today that HI's 3D rendering engine MascotCapsule eruption (hereinafter "eruption") has been adopted by Capcom Co., Ltd. for their game application "Resident Evil(R) 4: iPad edition" (URL: http://www.capcom.co.jp/iphone/re4/index.html) for iPad. The eruption has already been adopted for BREW(R), iPhone(R), iPod(R) touch, and Zeebo(TM)(*1) for Resident Evil 4.
Supporting the industry-standard OpenGL(R) ES , eruption enables high-speed rendering of 3D graphics by making the best use of iPad's 3D graphics accelerator, allowing beautiful, sensational 3D animation with high resolution on iPad.
As the content developed using MascotCapsule does not depend on an equipment or operating system, it is possible to quickly port models and animation data into other devices. Due to this, "Resident Evil 4" developed for iPhone and iPod touch using eruption has been successfully ported into iPad.
HI is committed to establishing further efforts of expanding MascotCapsule in order to contribute to the global development of popular games and content.
An OpenGL ES 1.0/1.1 compliant 3D engine that has achieved a dramatically improved processing speed compared to the existing 3D rendering engines. The eruption enables game developers and content developers to fully leverage the performance of 3D hardware accelerators offering increased speed as well as developing content with rich expression at a high-frame rate.
