EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nordson EFD (Nasdaq: NDSN) has introduced a new 3-part packaging system to improve productivity and reduce costs in the 2-component (2K) packaging segment of the global adhesives market, estimated to exceed $30.5 billion in 2010.

50mL Side x Side Cartridge

Nordson EFD’s 50mL side x side cartridges are more robust for better performance, and supplied with end plugs preinstalled to save time and effort. For faster, easier piston insertion, lead-ins at the top of the cartridge are increased.

AF^TM Pistons

New 50mL and 200mL AF pistons feature a unique design that bleeds out residual air as they are inserted into filled cartridges. This saves manufacturers and packagers additional time and effort by eliminating extra steps to insert shims or bleed plugs to prevent air from being trapped between the piston and material. The resulting airtight, leakproof seal ensures safe shipment, long shelf life and predictable product performance.

Atlas^TM 2K Piston Inserter

EFD’s new Atlas 2K Piston Inserters give adhesive packagers a fast, convenient and cost-effective way to install the new AF pistons. They bleed air properly even when fill levels of A and B components are unequal, permitting any operator to install pistons perfectly without time-consuming rework. Optional kits increase versatility by allowing 50mL Inserters to handle 200mL cartridges, and 200mL Inserters to handle 50ml cartridges.
