PARIS--()--MIPIM Asia Summit, the annual property leaders’ summit in Asia Pacific, today announces that four more industry leaders will address delegates on alternative assets, risk assessment and future workspaces.

MIPIM Asia Summit will be held 29-30 November 2016 at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong and will feature the world’s leading real estate executives and experts operating in the Asia Pacific region for a two-day summit, offering more than 30 strategic sessions for investors, developers and occupiers with numerous networking events. MIPIM Asia Summit will welcome more than 850 attendees from 30 countries.

The 2016 theme, ‘Real Estate Disruption: Take a Step Ahead,’ provides a platform for experts to examine emerging industry trends of real estate disruption and property technology innovation.

Day one of MIPIM Asia Summit sees a 10:30am keynote address from Evan Kleinberg, Managing Director, Head of Real Estate APAC, WeWork. The New York-based company transforms buildings into beautiful, collaborative workspaces and provides infrastructure, services, events and technology to occupiers. Kleinberg has extended WeWork’s global footprint by acquiring over 3 million square feet of commercial office space across North America, Asia, and Australia.

On November 30 at 4pm, Tony Wong, Director at Workplace Resources, Asia Pacific and Japan, Cisco Systems Inc. will share his views on the “Future of Workspace.” Former architect Tony Wong has an international reputation for managing multi-discipline international teams as they deliver real estate projects and services to meet business results. He will be speaking as part of the global discussions on future innovation in offices and workspaces.

Later that day at 2pm, MIPIM Asia delegates will have the opportunity to hear Kevin Colket, Managing Director, Asia, Starwood Capital as he joins panelists to discuss the current trends for Asian investors to diversify their portfolios in the “Focus on Alternative Assets” conference session.

Steve Wilford is Senior Partner at Control Risks’ Global Risk Analysis team, where he leads a group of specialists conducting country, sector and regulatory risk assessment work. He will be participating at the MIPIM Asia Summit for the first time this year as a keynote speaker.

A regular BBC, CNN, and CNBC commentator, he analyses how ‘disruptive factors’ like anti-globalisation, cyber activity, terrorism and trade deals (which are changing political paradigms) could impact the real estate investments and strategies in Asia Pacific. His keynote address will cover the “Outlook of the global threat landscape and its impact on real estate”.

To further explore the summit’s central theme, there will be a panel session focusing on Brexit and the US election consequences on the APAC real estate market (29 Nov 2016, 5pm-6pm), as MIPIM Asia Summit will be the first APAC real estate event to take place after the US presidential election on the 8th of November. Confirmed speakers include Professor Patrice Derrington, Professor of Real Estate and Director of Graduate Real Estate Development Program, Columbia University, and Jace Tyrrell, Chief Executive, New West End Company.

The 2016 summit will also feature a broad range of investment conferences focusing on China, Japan and Australia real estate trends.

Numerous seminars will spotlight diversification opportunities across growing sectors including senior housing, student housing, data centres and workplace solutions. Developments in Asia’s retail market will be examined, with focuses on consumer trends, shopping mall 3.0, data management and e-commerce, the omnichannel retail approach, the evolution of O2O, retail centre diversification and the growing emphasis on retailtainment.

Dr Charles Lam, Managing Director of Real Estate at Baring Private Equity Asia, expects evolving fintech trends to dictate a range of conference topics. “Amidst a series of disruptive factors affecting the traditional real estate market, we are particularly excited to see a significant influence from fintech in the industry,” he said. Dr Lam will serve as a MIPIM Asia Awards 2016 juror.

The Hong Kong leg of the MIPIM Startup Competition 2017 will feature business pitches from six of the most promising and innovative new companies, and will be judged by industry stakeholders. The selected finalists from MIPIM Asia will then present their projects on the main stage in the grand finale at MIPIM in Cannes. A showcase on disruptive architectural projects, “PechaKucha” will give the stage to architects and developers to pitch the great buildings of tomorrow.

The summit will conclude with the MIPIM Asia Awards Gala Dinner, which takes place at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 30 November, 2016. The MIPIM Awards set the benchmark for excellence in the property industry, recognising the best projects in the Asia Pacific region. MIPIM Asia Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be unveiled at the gala dinner.
