HONG KONG--()--Leading mPOS product innovator and manufacturer BBPOS recently announced the global launch of WisePad™2. The company, who has their head office in Hong Kong, was founded in 2008 and leads the mPOS market in developing a range of devices to suit the specific requirements of merchants and customers around the world.

WisePad™2’s specifications enable the upmost flexibility for it to be used in all environments – integrated POS, semi-integrated POS or stand-alone. Hans-Peter Nies, the company’s Vice President for Europe, commented on WisePad™2’s major benefits for merchants as “direct connectivity: the mobility” and that “this one device fulfils your required needs”. The “big advantage”, he contended, is that the product only requires a mobile network connection. WisePad™2 does not require the necessity of carrying around a second additional device such as a tablet, as required with previous mPOS products, it can be directly connected to the payment gateway by Wifi or GPRS. Costs for merchants, as a result, are greatly reduced and less prescriptive - the necessity, for example, of having the correct version of a mobile phone is no longer a requirement.

BBPOS’ innovative engineers have earnestly tested WisePad™2 in the laboratory to ensure that it meets required worldwide certifications. The enhanced technology supports all verification methods with card readers for magnetic stripes; EMV (EuroPay, MasterCard and Visa); and NFC (Near Field Communication), as well as a secure PIN pad. Customers using their debit and credit cards with varying verification methods abroad will not experience non-acceptance with merchants who are using WisePad™2 as their mPOS.

BBPOS Product Marketing Director Namson Kwok commented on the future of mPOS and the potential benefits of WisePad™2 for new merchants including insurance companies and couriers and, indeed, their customers. Insurance companies commonly scratch credit cards with a pencil to make an imprint of their client’s credit card number details on the paperwork. Due to the associated high risk, banks will charge additional fees to the insurance company and hence, customers will also be charged more. Mr Kwok remarked “if the insurance company uses our devices, firstly you can reduce the risk and the charge will be lower and customers will also benefit.”

Credit and debit cards are becoming more popular worldwide, particularly in developing or third world countries. BBPOS products are embraced in such countries due to their flexibility, simplicity and low cost. The ability to use credit or debit cards as opposed to cash is appealing to customers for small and large transactions, particularly when travelling abroad, as exchanging foreign currency can be troublesome. Ms Gloria Chan, Marketing Communications Manager for BBPOS, remarked on the ease and convenience for her to pay for goods by credit card when she recently travelled to Australia where transactions of smaller amounts when shopping in markets or travelling by taxi can be paid for by credit card. Namson Kwok added to her comments “if more merchants use mPOS in the world, the chance that you can use a credit card is higher.”
