TOKYO--()--The Implementation Committee for New Concept “Ueno, a Global Capital of Culture” (Founder: Masanori Aoyagi, Commissioner for Cultural Affairs, founding director: Ryohei Miyata, President, Tokyo University of the Arts) has launched a portal site to disseminate information across multiple domains on the activities and information of the Ueno area as a promotional platform to establish Ueno as a global capital of culture and the arts.

About the “Ueno, a Global Capital of Culture” portal site

Provides information on the Ueno area across multiple domains in Japanese and English, and is accessible via smartphone
This website publishes information across multiple domains on the cultural and art facilities concentrated in the Ueno area such as art and history museums, including information on exhibits, events, and performances. Currently, information is publishedin both Japanese and English, and will also be provided in other languages going forward.

Ideas to help you fully enjoy the Ueno area, including outing plans and a shared passport.
The “Outing Plans” available on the site suggest walking courses that allow you to fully enjoy the appeals of Ueno, including the representative architecture and history of the area.

Further, a shared passport called the “Ueno Welcome Passport,” which allows holders to enjoy the cultural facilities of the Ueno areas across multiple domains, is available for purchase on the website to both domestic and international tourists. A total of eight cultural and art facilities in Ueno can be enjoyed at a reduced price (limited to 10,000 passports, available only as supplies last).

The Implementation Committee for New Concept “Ueno, a Global Capital of Culture,” founded as part of that initiative in 2015, is an organization for promoting this new concept to develop the potential of the cultural treasures of Ueno.
