IBM’s D.C. Chien to Deliver Keynote Address at the Inaugural International CES Asia

Chien to discuss IBM’s commitment to Internet of Things; New CES Asia exhibitors added

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The International CES Asia today announced that D.C. Chien, chief executive officer (CEO) of IBM Greater China Group, will deliver a keynote address at the inaugural International CES AsiaTM, produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® and co-produced by INTEX. Chien joins leaders from Audi and Intel as confirmed 2015 CES Asia keynote speakers. Featuring top technology companies from around the world, CES Asia will run May 25-27 in Shanghai, China and will draw global businesses to showcase the latest products and technologies entering the Asian marketplace.

Chien’s address will take place at 3:30 PM, May 25 at the Kerry Hotel, Level 3, Grand Shanghai Ballroom 2-3. He will discuss IBM’s commitment to advancements in the Internet of Things, as well as the company’s integrated solutions in business strategy.

“During his tenure at IBM, Mr. Chien has cemented IBM as a top brand in the Asian marketplace, growing the company’s business across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and beyond,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Chien to the CES Asia keynote program, where he will share IBM’s vision for the Internet of Things and the company’s exciting plans for the future.”

D.C. Chien currently serves as the CEO of IBM Greater China Group (GCG). Mr. Chien began his career in 1977 in IBM Taiwan as a system engineer. Since then, he has held senior leadership positions including General Manager of ASEAN/South Asia, Vice President for Systems & Technology Group (STG) in Asia Pacific region and General Manager of STG in GCG. Mr. Chien played a key role in developing IBM’s sales and distribution channels in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan during his tenure as Director of Business Operations in GCG in the late 90’s. He also served as General Manager of IBM Taiwan from 1993 to 1996.

Chien joins Audi’s Rupert Stadler and Intel’s Kirk Skaugen as confirmed CES Asia keynote speakers. Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management at Audi AG will deliver the preshow keynote address at the 2015 International CES Asia at 5 PM Sunday, May 24 in the Jumeirah Hotel, DaGuan Theatre. Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group for Intel Corporation will take the keynote stage at 10:30 AM on May 25 at the Kerry Hotel, Level 3, Grand Shanghai Ballroom 2-3. Keynote addresses are complimentary for all CES Asia attendees, and a CES Asia badge is all that is required for entry.

Initially 20,000 gross square meters (8,500 net square meters), the CES Asia show floor has recently expanded by nearly 10 percent and will house an estimated 250 exhibitors that currently represent 14 countries. Major global brands are supporting the show through show floor exhibitions and private meeting room space to conduct critical business at CES Asia.
