SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BOKU, Inc., the mobile payments provider, today announced partnerships with twelve leading game developers, offering casual, social and multi-player online gamers the simplest means possible for purchasing virtual goods using their mobile phone. With these new partners, BOKU provides mobile payments coverage across nearly 100% of the top applications for virtual goods and currencies purchases on Facebook and leads the industry for direct mobile payment relationships with game and application developers.

BOKU’s new partners add nearly 200 million registered users across over 250 new games, with an expanded reach to 56 countries worldwide. They join Playfish, Slide, TheBroth, Hive7, PageFad and many other leading developers in using BOKU to enable direct mobile payments for their users.

New partners on the Facebook platform include:

  • 6Waves Ltd.
  • Snap Interactive
  • Zoosk Inc.

New partners in the free-to-play space include:

  • Cie Studios
  • Cyberstep Communications, Inc.
  • GameDuell
  • IGG, Inc.
  • King.com
  • NHN USA Inc. (ijji)
  • NTREEV
  • Outspark
  • PerfectWorld Entertainment Inc.

“BOKU is attracting new partners in a large part due to our ability to help them make more money from their existing businesses,” says Ron Hirson, co-founder and SVP of Marketing & Product for BOKU Inc. “As an example, BOKU partner TheBroth saw mobile payments revenue double upon launching the new platform, while PageFad saw 5x growth in September alone due to rapid growth in applications coupled with BOKU’s ability to help them optimize.”

Game and app developers select BOKU’s mobile payment platform to increase revenue streams and expand their channels. Since the launch of the new platform, BOKU partners’ mobile revenue streams have increased as much as 100%. Partners realize this level of success because BOKU delivers:

  • Strong and flexible analytics
  • Optimization based on their partners’ implementation
  • Broadest coverage, in the most countries
  • Continuous release of new features based on partner requests and consumer requirements

In addition to the partner news, BOKU has launched the third generation of their customer experience, designed to increase the success rate of signups and mobile transactions. Innovations include the ability to instantly recognize a mobile phone number vs. a landline, and the ability to dynamically determine which carrier a mobile number belongs to, with translation in twenty languages.

”The virtual goods industry within the gaming space already represents a huge opportunity for mobile payments, and it’s growing rapidly,” says J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., VP & Chief Analyst, Mobile & Wireless Communications at Frost & Sullivan. “Mobile payments are an excellent vehicle for many gamers to make their purchases because of its simplicity, ease of use, and the global access to cellular phones – even in third world countries. BOKU seems to be at the top of its game in terms of simplifying mobile payments for virtual goods and making direct payments available to consumers and game developers alike.”

BOKU, which launched in June, has more than more than 1,000 direct mobile payments partners. On the Facebook platform specifically, four of the top fifteen application developers have direct relationships with BOKU, which accounts for more than 125 million unique monthly users. Five of the top 15 Facebook games use BOKU mobile payments to sell virtual goods. Through a combination of direct developer relationships and partnerships with payment aggregators, BOKU offers nearly 100% coverage for virtual goods payments on Facebook. Additionally, BOKU has broad global coverage and is live in 56 countries across 190+ carriers.
