BUSAN, Korea--()--The 56th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the 30th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) will take place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) on 26-29 March 2015.

As Korea marks the 10th anniversary of IDB membership, Busan is expected to be in the global limelight again after it successfully hosted the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference and the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit last year.

During the IDB-IIC Annual Meeting, a number of side events including the Korea-LAC Knowledge Sharing Forum and the Korea-LAC Business Summit, as well as a variety of cultural events such as the Latin American Film Festival, the Encounter Latin & Korean Modern Arts in Busan and the Busan Latin Dance Cup, are also to take place in order to promote economic and cultural exchanges between Korea and the Latin America and the Caribbean region (LAC).

Busan is the second largest city in Korea and home to 3.6 million people. As a leading marine and logistics center in Northeast Asia supported by the world’s 5th busiest super port, the city acts as a gateway linking the Eurasian continent with the world.

Busan is a center for the nation’s economy, tourism and culture. With the construction of the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) and a focus on specialized marine and ship finances, the city is becoming an international financial hub in the Northeast Asian region as well as a popular MICEdestination based on its track record of successfully hosting an array of the world’s large-sale exhibition and convention events.

Moreover, Busan welcomes over 3 million foreign visitors every year and offers festivals and events including the Busan International Film Festival, the G-Star Global Game Exhibition and the Busan Fireworks Festival.
