HONG KONG--(Business Wire)--The Final of The Underground x Parsons Music Battle of the Bands is here! The outstanding performances by all the bands last week caused a headache for the judges and at the end of two days of intense semi-final heats, the numbers were whittled down from twenty-six bands to ten bands in total.
The four bands for the student category that have made it through the Final include OneDayMore, The Pansies, Smile with Aye and Parallel Horizons. For the open category, the six competing bands will be Intellectual Morons, ZOOOOOM, Wan Chai Warriors, Stereo is the Answer, Les Gromechkos and 11:PM.
The Final will take place one day before the Valentine’s Day, on 13th February on the open-air stage at the AIA Great European Carnival. Student category starts at 5:30pm and the open category starts at 8:00pm. This time, each band plays for twelve minutes with three songs, of which one out of the three songs must be an original composition written by the band.
In the final, it’s 100% judges vote. Judges confirmed for the student category include Jonathan Lee(This Music Studio), Jon Wyler(Erkonos Industries), Clem Fung(Rubberband), Kung Chi Shing(Street Music Series), Edwin Lo(Bitetone.com). For the open category, judges confirmed are Jan Lo(Qiu Hong), Mike Chan(Chochukmo), Jesper Chan(Re:spect), Cliff Babbs(GFM.FM), Steve James(RTHK Radio 3) and Jon Wyler(Erkonos Industries)
One band from each category will be selected to be the champion band. Champion of the student category will receive 1 EPIPHONE LES PAUL SPECIAL II CHERRYBURST guitar, HK$3000 PARSONS cash coupon, a trophy & recording session at KOLOR's Studio with Sammy So. Champion of the open category will receive 1 GIBSON LES PAUL MELODY MAKER VINTAGE BURST, HK$5000 PARSONS cash coupon, a trophy & recording session at This Music Studio with Jon Lee. In addition, individual prizes will also be given to the Best Guitarist, Best Bassist, Best Drummer, Best Keyboard player and Best Vocalist per category for their outstanding performances. Each individual prize winner receives HK$600 PARSONS cash coupon and a trophy.

The Underground has partnered up with Parsons Music to bring budding & established musicians an opportunity to perform on an outdoor stage at the AIA Great European Carnival on the new Central Harbourfront. Parsons Music was established in 1986 and is one of the leading and most prestigious multinational musical companies in both Mainland China and Hong Kong. Parsons Music have their own production line for a wide range of cool musical instruments (pianos, guitars, percussion, string & wind instruments), a strong retail network and well-found music centers for educating music talents. The Underground was founded in 2004 to encourage original music creation by creating live music events for bands to showcase. Since then, The Underground has hosted over 185 events and sent 4 bands to Canada, 2 bands to London, UK and 1 band to Malaysia. The Underground x Parsons Battle of the Bands will take place starting from 15th of January 2015 (heats are on 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30th of January, the semi-finals are on 5th and 6th of February) and conclude with the final on 13 February 2015.
