BEIJING--()--MHL, LLC today announced that MHL® TVs, smartphones and accessories are now featured in more than 100 Gome stores across Beijing. Gome, one of the top retailers in China, has outfitted each store with banners, signage and in-store demonstrations to increase consumer awareness around MHL’s benefits and showcase products that include MHL technology. The expanded rollout of MHL products in Gome stores will continue over the course of 2014 and beyond.

“Gome prides itself on carrying the latest mobile and consumer electronics with a knowledgeable and tech-savvy staff who are dedicated to delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction,” said Li Xiaoning, general manager, Gome Accessory Company. “Through these promotional launches, we hope that consumers can make more informed purchasing decisions and get the most out of their MHL products.”

“China is one of the largest markets in today’s global economy and Chinese consumers demand the latest technologies,” said Rob Tobias, president, MHL, LLC. “By continuing to work with top local retailers such as Gome, our goal is that more consumers will have direct access to MHL products that can transform their smartphones beyond communications devices and into powerful gaming consoles, portable offices and home theater systems.”

Today, there is an installed base of more than half a billion MHL-enabled products worldwide, many from leading China manufacturers. MHL-enabled products include smartphones, tablets, DTVs, TV accessories, Blu-ray Disc™ players, audio / video (AV) receivers, monitors, projectors, adapters, automotive accessories, cables, and more.

The MHL 3.0 specification is ideally suited for the China market, addressing the latest consumer requirements for connecting a mobile device to larger displays, while simultaneously charging the device. With double the bandwidth compared to the previous version of the specification, MHL 3.0 delivers 4K (Ultra HD) resolution and a wider color gamut to create a more brilliant visual experience. By using a significantly faster bi-directional channel, the specification enables concurrent 4K video and high-speed peripheral support of mass storage and input devices such as a touch screen, keyboard and mouse ideal for productivity applications.
