Official Debut of THX in China Launches a New Era of Movie-Viewing

THX® Opens Offices in Beijing and Partners with China Film Group to Redefine the Cinema Experience

BEIJING--()--During the 23rd Beijing International Radio, Film and Television Equipment Exhibition, THX Ltd. and China Film Group announced a strategic partnership between the two companies, officially introducing THX to Chinese moviegoers. Leveraging its unparalleled expertise in filmmaking and technology, THX design Cinema Certification programs that ensure a truthful delivery of the filmmaker’s vision to the audience. Extremely critical architectural design, state-of-the-art visuals and incredibly powerful audio make THX Certified cinemas the pinnacle of Hollywood entertainment experiences.

“The debut of THX in China is of special significance to Chinese filmmakers and movie-goers, bringing China’s film industry one step closer to international standards regarding audio and video performance,” said Mr. Lin Min Jie General Manager of China Film Group’s subsidiary company China Film Equipment Co. The first THX Certified China Giant Screen (CGS) auditoriums will open in September 2014 in Shanghai. In his excitement for the partnership Louis Cacciuttolo, THX Executive VP of International Business Development and Brand Strategy, made a point to reflect on the history of THX: “THX was created in 1983 by legendary director George Lucas and a team of Lucas film engineers. Our purpose in China, is to foster the passion and creativity of filmmakers encouraging them to push the boundaries of storytelling. THX has certified over 4,000 cinemas including world renowned venues such as the TCL Chinese Theater and the ArcLight in Hollywood, the Empire in London and the State Kremlin Palace cinema in Moscow.
