JAKARTA, Indonesia--()--Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a new management agreement with PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts property in Jakarta, Indonesia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the 181-key Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be the second property of the legendary luxury brand’s portfolio in Indonesia.

“Today’s announcement underlines Waldorf Astoria’s commitment to strengthening and expanding our growing portfolio of landmark properties in key destinations around the world,” said John Vanderslice, global head, luxury brands, Hilton Worldwide. “Waldorf Astoria has become the luxury hotel brand for defining unforgettable experiences for discerning travelers. Guests of Waldorf Astoria Jakarta can expect to receive True Waldorf Service resulting in a truly luxurious experience.”

Designed to raise the level of the luxury hospitality experience to new heights, Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be located along Jalan M.H. Thamrin road in the heart of the central business district and is approximately 32 kilometers away from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Well served by major roadways, the hotel’s immediate vicinity is home to country headquarters of multinational corporations, government offices and embassies and is an ideal environment for corporate travelers to conduct business. In addition, the hotel offers direct access to the city's transportation network as well as convenient access to restaurants and shopping by car. The hotel’s prime location also offers excellent accessibility to the city’s finest dining places, tourist landmarks, entertainment venues as well as popular shopping malls including Plaza Indonesia, Grand Indonesia and Thamrin City for leisure travelers.

“Opening a Waldorf Astoria hotel in a cosmopolitan capital city such as Jakarta will augment the brand’s awareness in Southeast Asia and pave the way for future landmark projects in the region,” said Andrew Clough, senior vice president, development, Middle East & Asia Pacific, Hilton Worldwide. “We are pleased to be working with an established partner like PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce our trademark of luxury to Jakarta.”

Currently set to be the tallest hotel in the city and built as a 74-story mixed-use development, Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will join the icons of the bustling city’s skyline with its striking architecture by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. The hotel will offer 181 exquisite, well-appointed guest rooms and suites sized at 60 square meters. Reflecting the brand’s astute sophistication and prestige, Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will delight guests with the finest culinary experiences at its all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, destination bar and the signature Peacock Alley lobby lounge.

The hotel will also host exclusive meetings and events within its 2,000 square-meter ballroom, several state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a business center. A stunning outdoor pool, health club and spa as well as a library lounge will also be part of Waldorf Astoria Jakarta’s inspirational environment.

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is the country’s most prominent economic, cultural and political center. As Indonesia’s main gateway, Jakarta has a well-established network of air transportation with an increasing number of international airlines and domestic flights serving the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The city is the base of Indonesia’s central government and ministries as well as representative offices of international political organizations including Asian Development Bank, United Nations and World Bank.

“We are excited to partner with Hilton Worldwide in our vision to build an iconic landmark right in the heart of Jakarta’s financial district,” said Alvin Gozali, President Director, PT Putragaya Wahana. “As a real estate developer, we’re eager to welcome one of the most luxurious and prestigious hotel brands to the capital of Indonesia. With the third busiest airport in Asia, we are confident that the development of this property will further enhance the position of Jakarta as a major gateway city.”

Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will participate in Hilton HHonors®, the only guest rewards program that allows members to earn Points & Miles® for the same stay and redeem points for free nights with No Blackout Dates at more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
