Beijing -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- After launching the world’s first voice-based English-language learning mobile game app “West Journey - Spell Force,” BenBen Information Technology Limited is following up with a Chinese-language version - “XiYouJi ZhouYuLiLiang”.
The app, derived from the Chinese literary classic “Journey to the West” – lets the player take on the role of the Monkey King - a pivotal character in the mythical tale - and he/she can gain powers when they pronounce corresponding characters correctly. The player is able to learn the intricacies of the Hanyu Pinyin system (the Romanization of Chinese characters) and practice pronunciation in a fun and educational format.
The game uses the same phonics-style approach to language learning as its predecessor, organising various phrases in accordance with pronunciation rules, allowing players to comprehend and discover the rules in the course of playing and thereby build a foundation for the pronunciation of other phrases with the same tone combinations.
An online guide (http://benbeninfo.com/games/learning-guide/) also provides users with detailed supplemental study information. In terms of content, more Chinese cultural elements have been incorporated into the game, such as the use of “baozi” (“bun”) in place of “sandwich” in the English-language version of the app.
