Finansa Opens Brokerage and Wealth Management Office in Hong Kong; Selects Interfax China Research Services

Finansa is a Bangkok-based merchant banking group providing securities brokerage, corporate finance and fund management services in the Southeast Asia region.

Founded in 1991 and listed on the Thai stock exchange in 2002, the group has established itself as the leading independent merchant bank in Thailand with unparalleled depth and experience across both debt and equity capital markets.

The group's brokerage business accounts for a c.4% market share of Thai equity trading and recent mandates in investment banking include the appointment as advisor to the Bt10.5 billion debt financing by PTT Aromatics and Refining and the Bt22.5bn and US$300mdebt refinancing and issuances by Bangchak Petroleum.

The group's asset management business comprises a Thai provident and mutual fund asset management company and a specialist offshore institutional fund management business centered on private equity investment in Thailand Vietnam. Group assets under management are c.US$600m.

Finansa's commitment to building a "China" business has recently taken a significant step forward with opening of Finansa Securities (Hong Kong) Ltd. This new company is licensed by the HK SFC to provide both brokerage and wealth management services.

The initial focus of the HK business will be institutional brokerage of HK and China equities, and wealth management. 

The brokerage business will have research support headed by John Mulcahy.
