Company offers free software for IP Address Management

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Infoblox Inc. (NYSE: BLOX) today announced availability of IPAM Express, a free automated and unified IP address management (IPAM) software designed to help businesses with complex, manual IP address management tasks. IPAM Express is ideally suited for organizations transitioning their networks to IPv6 and looking to simplify IT complexity caused by increasing IP proliferation.

"Private cloud and virtualization, the explosion of connected devices, and the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 puts an enormous strain on IT departments," said Arya Barirani, Vice President, Product Marketing, Infoblox. "The antiquated approach of managing IP addresses using spreadsheets simply cannot scale. Infoblox helps businesses meet this challenge head-on by providing a free solution that automates previously manual tasks, while supporting and simplifying the move to IPv6."

Enterprises are feeling increasing pressure to transition to the next-generation Internet Protocol, IPv6, as the world's pool of IPv4 addresses becomes depleted. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), which assigns and allocates the global IP address space, ran out of IPv4 addresses on Jan 31, 2011. Several regional registries have since depleted their supply, and others are on the way. Best-in-class IT organizations have migrated to IPv6 or are actively planning their transition.

Infoblox's free IPAM Express software fully supports both IPv4 and IPv6 address types and helps assist in migration planning and testing. The software provides basic network discovery and IP address management functions, helping replace manual processes, custom scripts, and spreadsheets with an automated, intuitive tool that make it easy to monitor and manage IP addresses for the entire network.

IPAM Express enables users to:

  • Stop spreadsheet IP management
  • Allocate / de-allocate, control, and report IP address space from one console
  • Automatically identify used, unused, and conflicting addresses
  • Visually map network allocation and address availability, and assign addresses simply and easily
  • Manage both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

The new Infoblox IPAM Express controls up to 2,000 IP addresses. Unlike other vendors that charge up to $2,000 for similar functionality, or place 30-day limits on their IPAM trials, IPAM Express is completely free and has no time limits.
