  • New analog and digital microphones give manufacturers easy upgrade path to HD voice quality
  • Manufactured for quality, reliability and performance by world's #1 MEMS sensor supplier: Bosch

PITTSBURGH -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Akustica, Inc., a Bosch Group company that develops MEMS microphones, today announced a complete analog and digital family of top- and bottom-port high-definition (HD) voice microphones for smartphones, tablets and other consumer electronics.

The new microphones' high, 63dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), super-wideband frequency response, and tightly matched +/-2dB sensitivity, support the growing market trend to utilize higher-performance audio components -- along with noise-processing algorithms -- to deliver HD-voice quality in mobile devices.

Akustica's new microphones are drop-in replacements for today's most commonly used MEMS microphones, providing a straightforward path for manufacturers to achieve more natural-sounding conversation and improved speech-recognition accuracy in current designs. These Bosch-manufactured Akustica microphones leverage the high-volume capability, quality and reliability of the world's top MEMS sensor supplier.

Part-to-part consistency is particularly important to achieve HD voice quality for end users. Multi-microphone noise suppression algorithms rely on well-matched acoustic characteristics among the microphones for optimized performance. All four of Akustica's new microphones deliver the same high SNR, flat frequency response, and matched sensitivity, giving manufacturers the freedom to select the microphone with the most convenient mechanical and electrical configuration for their device design - without sacrificing HD voice performance. Pin-for-pin compatibility, with the most popular form factors used in today's mobile devices, helps to simplify the upgrade to better-sounding systems.

Technical Features and Benefits

  • Analog (AKU142/342) output in top and bottom-port 2.95 x 3.76 x 1.1 mm form factors
